A Guide to Theatre Etiquette

There's something special about live theatre. Unlike a film, every performance is happening in real time, with actors, musicians and crew creating a shared experience that only exists in that moment. A little preparation goes a long way in helping everyone enjoy the show.

Arrive Early

We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the performance. This gives you enough time to park, collect your tickets, find your seat, and order any food or drinks from the bar before the show begins.

Please note that theatre doors close approximately 5 minutes before curtain up. If you arrive late, entry may only be possible during a suitable break in the performance. Late entries will not be permitted once the show begins.

Before the Lights Go Down

Before taking your seat, we suggest:

Using the restroom.
Placing any final orders at the bar.
Avoid unwrapping noisy snacks or rustling packaging during the performance.
Switching your mobile phone off or onto silent.

Taking care of these little things beforehand helps minimise disruptions once the performance begins.

During the Performance

To ensure everyone has the best possible experience, we kindly ask that you:

Refrain from talking once the performance has started.
Remain seated where possible until intermission or the end of the show.
Keep phones and smart devices tucked away.
Avoid photography, video or audio recording, as these are not permitted during the performance.

Your attention and presence make all the difference—not only for those around you, but for the performers on stage.
